Plaza Suite Casting
We are staging 'Plaza Suite' by Neil Simon at the Dixon Studio, Palace Theatre, Westcliff, Essex in September 2012, and we are currently inviting submissions from actors for one role.
Roy Hubley (Male)
Roy and Norma are hosting the wedding of their daughter Mimsey at the Plaza Hotel. Unfortunately Mimsey has locked herself in the bathroom and refuses to come out.
This act was described by the New York Daily News as "the wildest and most uproarious farce I have seen on a stage" so the actor playing Roy needs to have excellent comic timing. He is described as "a volatile, explosive man, equipped to handle the rigors of the business world, but a nervous frightened man when it comes to the business of marrying off his only daughter".
Roy is between 40-50. Standard American accent.
The actor playing Roy will also be required to play a waiter in Act 1 (small role).
Rehearsals are reasonably flexible around actors availability and will be largely weekends and evenings from July onwards, however applicants must be committed, and have good availability during August and September - leading up to the opening.
The production will run from Tues 11th - Sat 15th September with Thursday and Saturday matinees.
Rehearsals will be in Southend-on-Sea, Essex. Actors within easy travel of Southend are particularly encouraged to apply.
